President
Partha Chakraborty
Currently, I am a PhD student in ECE and a member of three honor societies in GT including Gamma Beta Phi (rest are Eta Kappa Nu and Sigma Xi). I am currently an Executive committee member and the Service Chair of GBP, and leading the service committee. I had used my leadership and organizational skills to work with and delegate tasks to my committee members as needed, empower them to coordinate service activities, and hold them accountable for the assigned tasks. Through my membership with GBP, the interactions with current and past executive members have provided me a clear idea about the responsibilities and importance of the President’s role within GBP. I have extensive experience of working as part of successful teams and leading them in both academic and professional environments. As the President of GBP, I will continue to provide strong leadership and direction to GBP, while improving its presence and impact within the GT and local community. The varied leadership experiences I have from roles within GBP and beyond makes me well qualified to provide a strong and ethical leadership to this prestigious honor society. Juggling between the demands of grad school and leadership activities is challenging; but I have managed that well through my hard work, dedication to service, and a passion to leave a lasting impact on the GT community. I can bring in effective ideas to improve GBP as an organization that brings in more value to our members and the society. I am looking forward to working with a very dedicated executive committee as I did over the past few months.
Vice President
Jennifer Shim
My name is Jenny Shim and I am a 4th year industrial engineering major. I am finishing up my last co-op term here at The Coca-Cola Company and will be at Tech for another year. It has been a pleasure serving as social chair this semester and getting to know many of you guys. If I haven't met you yet, there is going to be a BBQ next week so be on the lookout for that! I've joined Gamma Beta Phi since my freshman year, and it has been a great experience overall! I know its difficult to serve the community as much as we'd like given our busy schedules, but I think GBP does a great job closing that gap and enabling us to go out there and serve. I would like to use my last year here and give back to GBP as much as it has done for me throughout my years at Tech. As much as I've enjoyed being the social chair, I would like to run for Vice President for this following year! I hope to have your support and be able to contribute to this great organization one last time. Thanks for your time!
Tian Xi
My name is Tian Xi, a senior student majoring in industrial engineering. I am running for GBP Vice President this year. It is not important that I am an international student who can bridge students from different cultures together. It is not important that I am doing internship at Capgemini and learnt how to work as a team leader. It is not important that I am been studying in Singapore, France and Japan and have a global mind. What is important is that I have been a dedicated GBP member for four years and devoted to community service. What is important is that the benefit and welfare of our GBP members will be reaffirmed after I am elected. What is important is that our school and Atlanta city will be proud of having us making contributions. Meetings will be organized regularly. Dinners will be provided each time. Initiation banquet will be memorable for your rest of your life. Man is not a creature of circumstances. Circumstances are the creatures of men. You and I together will redefine GBP to a higher level.
Treasurer
Kayla McKenzie
I am a third year Public Policy student also minoring in Business. I have been involved with MOVE (a community service organization on campus) and really enjoy doing volunteer work around the community. I was treasurer of my Hall Council back when I was a freshman and really enjoyed the position. I am proficient in Excel, which is a great way to organize payments and such for members. I am also a teaching assistant within the Math department as well as a front-desk employee at the CRC. I have a passion for community service and would love to be apart of your executive board. I hope that you will support me as your 2013-2014 Treasurer.
Zac Kannan
Hey everybody, my name is Zac Kannan and I would like to run for your 2013-2014 Gamma Beta Phi Treasurer. This is my fourth year with GBP at Georgia Tech, and I have learned so much in these past four years. I have been involved in many service projects including Meals on Wheels and the American Red Cross Blood Drive. In the summer and fall I coach youth soccer, and I am in an orgnanization called GOALS which involves teaching the special needs students how to play soccer which is so much fun! I am an environmental engineering major; I am kind of nerd and like to crunch numbers. I think I would be a good fit for treasurer as I am a big part of my fraternity's (FIJI) treasury and some of my friends call me too organized. Community service is a big part of my life, and I would love to give back to the organization that really got me really going with it. Thanks guys, cheers.
Historian
Membership Chair
Courtney Hegener
My name is Courtney Hegener, and I am an upcoming third-year student here at Tech. I am majoring in biology and plan to attend optometry school after earning my bachelor's degree. I am actually working on starting an optometry club on campus next year! I have one older sister who is studying law at UGA, and I have a miniature dachshund who is basically the love of my life. Although I have been a GBP member for a year, many of our members may not recognize me because I just returned from the experience of a lifetime- studying abroad in New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji with the Pacific Program this semester. I am running for membership chair for the coming academic year because I am very organized and goal-oriented. I have awesome Excel spreadsheet skills from my biology, chemistry, and ecology labs, and I did chemistry education research with Dr. Russell last fall, which involved inputting and organizing information online for hours on end and has prepared me for keeping track of all our members and their points. I am also very friendly, which will help me recruit new members. I hope you will vote for me!
Service Chair
Gerin Williams
I am a third year, now enjoying life as a Psychology major after studying Biochemistry for two years. I have grown to really love serving the community with Gamma Beta Phi and have enjoyed some awesome experiences serving with Alternative Spring Break, What's in a Doctor's Bag, Jumpstart Reader's Program, and Hope Worldwide. In my spare time, I like playing outside with my friends, participating in open forums, and reading. I look forward to pursuing a career in community service and intervention through social work.
Social Chair
David Rowland
My name is David Rowland, and I'm a second year Mechanical Engineer here at Tech, originally from Annapolis, Maryland. I've been in GBP since my second semester freshman year. I'd love to get involved and make GBP a more active organization. I've had some experience organizing events in high school, but I'm anxious to learn some more. I'd like to hold several social events each semester so each of us can get to know one another on a more personal basis. We all contribute with service and fundraising, but kicking back for some enjoyment should be a highly social experience where each of us can meet some new people. I'm looking forward to the Social Chair position if I am chosen!
Scholarship Chair
Elizabeth Warden
I'm majoring in History, Technology and Society and minoring in Women, Science and Technology. I've been with GBP for over 2 years. I really enjoy helping others and am grateful for the outlet/opportunity that GBP has given me to do so. For the past semester, I have been working with Partha and the rest of the Service committee to bring GBP a greater number and more diverse community service projects. I am running for Scholarship Chair because I see it as another way I can give back to GBP.
Fundraising Chair
Manan Shah
My name is Manan Shah. I am a second year student majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I aspire to serve Gamma Beta Phi as the Fundraising Chair for the academic year 2013-2014. I was born and brought up in Mumbai, India and studying at Georgia Tech for the last two years has been a really cool experience. I have been a member of Gamma Beta Phi since my Freshman year and I am glad I had the opportunity to participate in several social and service events for the organization. Even though I have no prior experience in fundraising, I am confident, that with a little guidance and help from the new and former Executive Board members, I can arrange some really fun fundraising events for the organization in which all members can participate.
Secretary
Pravara Harati
I'm currently a second-year industrial engineering undergrad from Johns Creek, Georgia. I've been a member of Gamma Beta Phi for the past year and a part of the service committee for this past semester. In addition to volunteering, I very much enjoy reading and solving puzzles in my spare time. I'm also an active member of NSCS and an LAP tutor on campus.
Webmaster
Anna Tran
I'm a CS major and have had experience in designing and creating websites. I'll do my best at updating the site promptly and assist members with any site issues.
Michael Glover
I would like to run for the position of webmaster of Gama Beta Phi. I'm a second year BME Major-CS Minor. I have some experience with HTML and JavaScript, and I would like to use the opportunity of webmaster to further develop my skills. For my final project in my English 1102 class I was in charge of developing a website. We did very well on that project. In addition to my technical experience I was Vice President of my high school chapter of Mu Alpha Theta, where I was in charge of recording membership service requirements. I do not plan on having a heavy schedule next semester so I will have time to proactively work on improving the interface of the website. Thank you for considering me for the position of webmaster.
